We are yet to reach the peak of summer, but I am already craving some desserts! Speaking of the same, the first thing that comes to my mind is this Indian dessert Kesar Pista Shrikhand which is not only easy to make but also makes for a great treat on every occasion. I remember when I was a child, I used to crave this delicious delight during the festive season of Raksha Bandhan. Well, growing old, I realized that we could have it anywhere and anytime! Be it Holi, Dussehra or Diwali, Shrikhand has never left my side since then.
This amazing Kesar Pista Shrikhand Recipe is the one thing that lifts my mood. It is all about indulging in some nostalgic memories whenever I make it now. The best part about the recipe is that it is easy to make and requires minimal ingredients. Also, you must check the recipe of Instant Mango Shrikhand or Aamrakhand.
What is Shrikhand?
Shrikhand is a popular Indian dessert made with yogurt. People usually flavor it with cardamom, saffron, and nuts. In India, people usually make it using plain yogurt. It is hung for days to get rid of excess moisture. Once the yogurt is thick, sweeten and flavor it to make tasty and delicious Shrikhand. Here, I have used Greek Yogurt for making my version of Pista Shrikhand. This one is flavored with cardamom, pistachios, and saffron. Even if the yogurt is thick, I recommend straining it further to make it thicker.
Extra tips:
You can add extra flavors to your Shrikhand to make it tastier. Try pouring some rose water, cocoa powder, or jams like blueberry or strawberry to the same.
You can skip the procedure of straining the yogurt in case you are using Greek yogurt.
Serving suggestions:
You can pair and serve Shrikhand with poori. It is a delicacy in Western India and a must-try combination. You can also serve it in small bowls as a dessert during your home festivities.
