Restaurant Review: Genuine Broaster Chicken, Vashi, Navi Mumbai

Finally, Navi Mumbai has a good new addition of Genuine Broaster Chicken in the list of casual dining restaurants. Genuine Broaster chicken is a 60 year old US brand. They have opened their outlets in India and the best part is that they have tied up with Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi, yes the “Namak Shamak” chef to curate a special “Indian-nized” menu. So, I was really looking forward to #getbroasted.

Ambiance:

Talking about ambiance, the place has funky, innovative interiors with caricatured tables, plants in helmets, beautiful lights, etc, etc. Board games are also available so that you can enjoy them also along with good food, music and drinks.

Mocktails:

Coming to drinks, the Mocktails we tried were Kokum Twister which I liked because it is a fizzy drink with the taste of kokum sharbat (popular in maharastra), next was Palang Tod which is very contradictory to it’s name because this drink is capable of keeping you awake all night, it is a strong combination of Redbull and Coffee shots so don’t blame me for your sleepless nights after having this. The Coco Mango Mojito was average didn’t like it much but the show stealer was the Chocolate Wreak Freakshake. It is simply Wow! Oreo, Kitkat, waffers blended together with chocolate and presented beautifully.

You can take the kitchen tour at Genuine Broaster Chicken and see the working of pressure fryer like how they make amazing fried chicken in just minutes. The fried chicken cooked under pressure fryer absorbs much lesser oil compared to the normal frying. I have also uploaded the video my Youtube Channel. Do check it by clicking the link below.

Food:

We tried the Broaster platter which had 2 pieces of each – the legendary chicken, happy fried chicken and hot masala chicken. The best  among them was happy fried and hot masala. Spicy, crispy, juicy chicken pieces fried and cooked to perfection and to make it taste even better it is served with 3 different dips.

The Assorted Wings Platter with six varieties of chicken wings was served. Smoked BBQ & Mushrooms, Butter garlic and Kung Pao were my favorite ( still drooling). And don’t miss the Lamb Rogan Josh Burger which is Harpal Singh’s special item. It is served with fries, these red colored soft bun (naturally colored) with flavorful minced lamb patties and sauces is simply awesome.

Under the grilled chicken section we tried Cheese & Lemon peppery flavored chicken served with rice, fries and butter garlic sauce. The chicken pieces are succulent and have pleasing buttery peppery flavor.

In dessert, I had two of my favorites together chocolate samosa with mango ice cream. The crispy chocolate samosa was complimenting the mango ice-cream very well. The Gulkand Muffin is a very unique dish and is also Chef’s special so give it a try.

I am happy that they have opened their branch in Vashi, Navi Mumai and  it is a perfect place for good food with drinks and good music.

Review: Flavors, Sanpada, Navi Mumbai

I used to see this restaurant Flavors while going to Vashi, near Sanpada Railway Station and I was planning to go there and finally it happened last Friday. We (Me and S) went for lunch to this place. We got the parking easily and it didn’t seem to be an issue at that time. We went around 1 pm and the place was quite full.

I don’t know why but I always judge the restaurant at first place by the ambiance which has not always been the right approach because I had some amazing food at average or no ambiance restaurants also. But, as usual, the place was analyzed again on this parameter and I liked it this time at the first place only because the beautiful decor, perfect lighting and comfortable sitting space impressed me.

We started the meal with some beautiful looking and totally ” Hatt-ke” (different) Mocktails.

Mocktails:

Icy Lemon was a beautiful blue colored mocktail and it had a very refreshing taste of lemons. It became my favorite in the first sip itself. Next was Chatka Mary ( interesting name .. isn’t it?) This is a crazy spin to the Bloody Mary where the tomatoes are replaced by sweet- spicy guava juice with some lime. The rims were coated with salt and red chili powder and full “khatta-meetha-teekha” combo this one was. Kala Khatta Mojito was another beautiful colored mocktail which was served to us and was a notable combination of the kala khatta and mojito. I liked the taste of this mocktail and enjoyed sipping it. The last one was Green Chilli Mojito.. (Yes ! you read right) an attractive bright green color mocktail was is a unique combination of green chilies, lime, and mint.

Starters:

This is my favorite part of the meal because I am a big fan of dry and tandoor items more than the gravy dishes. The starters were served with a variety of dips and sauces. I liked the starters here more because they were beautifully presented. Murg Hazarvi Kebab was delicious pepper flavored chicken kebabs. The chicken pieces were succulent, spicy and perfectly cooked. Panner Hilltop was served on a BBQ equipped serveware were the paneer tikka was placed on top and the bottom section was filled with burning charcoal which was like a live BBQ. The paneer pieces were soft and this green colored tikka was stuffed with spinach and green peas filling. Veg Kurkure is something that you should not miss. Crispy fried vegetables served beautifully with honey and chilli sauce. Paneer Lotus was beautiful flower shaped fried pastry sheets stuffed with spicy paneer filling which was crispy and yummy. The BBQ chicken was tasty with chicken cooked in BBQ sauce. The Bikarneri Seekh Kebab is a good option for the vegetarian lovers but I found it a bit dry due to the cottage cheese I guess and you need some chutney or dip to accompany it.

Main Course:

As I mentioned above I absolutely loved the way they presented the food and the quantity is fulfilling too. I would like to mention especially the Singaporian rice served with Prawns in Oyster sauce. The rice was nicely cooked, flavorful and it was presented in a bamboo container. I loved the Murg Musallam which was rich and creamy chicken gravy with minced chicken pieces and was downright delicious. The Subz Diwani Handi was good too and Paneer Lababdar was kind of ok nothing special. The meal was served with Roti ki tokri which had assorted bread right from missi roti, tandoori roti and naan.

Dessert:

I think this is the favorite part of the meal for everyone. Since we were already full after such an elaborate meal so we decided to conclude the meal with the hot sizzling brownie. I love that sizzling sound of the chocolate sauce and it’s such a treat to eyes to watch it in front of you. It was absolutely delicious and with moist brownie, vanilla ice-cream and hot chocolate sauce.

The service is another thing I would like to mention here. The staff were quick and well aware about the menu items. They left no stones unturned to give us the best service.

They have an ongoing BBQ festival so check out their Zomato and Facebook page for more details.

This place has an amazing variety to offer to all veg and non-veg food lovers. This restaurant is indeed a good option for the residents of Navi Mumbai or anyone who is visiting this part of the city.

Review: 7th Heaven, Mumbai

img_2714-2

My idea of spending Sunday varies, sometimes I am in the traveler’s  mood and sometimes I love lazing around at home. Such lazy Sunday becomes more special when a box full of happiness arrives at your place. By box full of happiness I mean a box full of tempting, beautiful looking pastries, cupcakes, brownie and savory treat like cheese croissant, veg coleslaw sandwich.

img_2715

The good folks of 7th Heaven, which is one of the leading cake and dessert chain were courteous enough to send me some of their delicious bakery items. 7th Heaven has 17 branches all over Mumbai including Andheri-Lokhandwala, Nerul, Vile Parle, Malad, Goregaon and many other locations.

The box contained lots of toothsome items which were irresistible and made me finish the box the same day (before you raise your eyebrows, I shared it with family members too ;)) So let’s start

Rainbow Cupcake:  Starting with the most attractive Cupcake out of all. This one caught my attention as the bright colors looked so beautiful. The cupcake was super moist and really yummy. One of my favorite among the lot.

Red Velvet Cupcake: This bright red colored cupcake has always been my favorite and this was very spongy and moist. I wish the frosting was a little less sweet as I found it a bit sweet for my taste.

Choco Chip Brownie: This one was my another favorite among all the yummies. It was perfectly sweet, fudgy and dense and simply Wao !

Macaroons: Although I am not a big fan of Macaroon as I find them way too sweet for my taste. Yet, my family liked these macaroons which were of three different flavors.

img_2722 img_2718img_2737img_2731

Pineapple Pastry: I am a lover of simplicity and this pastry has always been my favorite.  Melt in mouth and so fresh that this pastry was liked by all.

Chocolate Truffle pastry: This one was of my personal interest as the chocolate lover in me was tempted much to try it out by the looks of it and this one didn’t disappoint this chocolate lover. For me,  a sweet is perfect if it is not too sweet and this one was chocolatey and perfectly sweet.

Croissant and Veg Coleslaw Sandwich: To be frank the croissant was average, but this sandwich was the winner.  I love coleslaw and this one was so creamy and tasty.

Choco Chip Mousse in Chocolate Cup: I would like to highly recommend this one if you love chocolate mousse. This looks so beautiful as it is served in a cup made up of chocolate, which indeed was yum and filled with smooth chocolate mousse.

Review: The Koffee Works, Kharghar,Navi Mumbai

I am a coffee lover, but not an ardent one. There are days when I can give up my cup of tea for a cup of coffee and anytime I will opt for filter coffee over a cappuccino. For me, a perfect coffee cup should be silky smooth, must have balanced bitterness and aromatic. Wondering why am I sharing details about my coffee love because my recent review invite was at “Koffee Works”, a newly opened beautiful cafe in my vicinity that is Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.

Review: Tiffin Box etc, Sakinaka, Mumbai

I was invited for the grand opening of Tiffin Box etc third outlet in Saki Naka, Mumbai. Luckily I was in that part of the city so decided to attend the event. Don’t get confused by the name ‘TiffinBox’, this place has much more to offer. The idea behind the name ‘TiffinBox etc’ as explained by Mr. Ashwani Basantani, Brand Head is that the working class should not bring their tiffin boxes with them as they offer a big grand lunch buffet which includes the regional Indian specialties from four metropolitan cities namely Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkatta. One can also enjoy the A-la-Carte option with families and friends. They are also launching new website www.tiffinboxetc.com for online orders and payments.

Review : Cafe 70 Beans, Sanpada, Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbaikars often feel that this part of the city misses out on cool and happening cafes compared to the other part of Mumbai. Well, Cafe 70 beans is definitely an addition to your good books of cafes where you can actually relax and spend quality time with friends and family. The cafe has already made its name in the most visited cafe list in Navi Mumbai by Zomato. Wondering why its named 70 beans not 60 or 80? Because its believed that 70 roasted coffee beans, is what it takes to brew one prefect cup of coffee. 70 beans and perfection are synonyms of each other in terms of coffee.

Restaurant Review: Hyderabad Xpress, Andheri West

I like exploring new food joints but don’t like to travel far for food. Being in Navi Mumbai, I prefer exploring places near me or in Navi Mumbai only. After all, new joints are opening every day here too. The review of Hyderabad Xpress is one such case where the food traveled to me. Don’t believe me! But this is true, it happened when one fine day I received a mail from Mr. Aamer introducing me to Hyderabad Xpress and expressed his interest in sending some Biryani for tasting and feedback. I thought this is one such place where things can’t work out as I will not travel and Biryani getting delivered from Andheri to Kharghar is a rare event which is not gonna happen ( bulk order being an exception of course). But, these guys are so passionate towards the idea of making Authentic Hyderabadi Biryani reach all over Mumbai that they made this delivery of food possible.
